Foundation~Designer Vs. Drugstore

Hey guys! This week I splurged on some Burberry foundation. I've tried foundations by higher end cosmetic companies (Tarte, Urban decay, etc.), but never full on designer brands. That being said, recently my go to has been Revlon's colorstay full cover foundation with a matte finish in shade 110/ivory. I was curious to see how these two compare and decided to put them head to head. I ended up with the Burberry cashmere foundation in the "ochre" shade. Though I only bought one, the shade range seemed solid and there appeared to be something to fit anyone's skin tone, however I do think revlon has a much better selection. Here is a swatch of the two on my arm ~

Burberry certainly looks more orange on my skin, even though in the bottle it looks much paler. Then again, I did buy online and that can make it difficult to accurately shade match. Revlon holds its shape as it applies, while Burberry is much more fluid. However, once applied, they feel about the same weight on the skin. This is revlon when blended quickly on my face (with a tarte prime spray underneath)~

The revlon formula certainly offers better control of the product. It also has salicylic acid in it, which is a well known pimple remedy. The ingredients list on both of these is quite heavy but Revlon's includes, flower extract, mica, and mallow extract, just to name a few. In my opinion, the biggest downside is that it blends on slightly cakey, so I would start with a light layer and build on that. This shade is also a much better fit for my skin tone but that varies from person to person. I would definitely say that it lives up to it's promise of full coverage. That brings us to the Burberry~

As you can tell, the shade is slightly off but not drastically terrible. Although if you are going to splurge on some nice foundation, I would definitely sample a few in store. Like I said, It is MUCH more fluid and loose. It applies almost like a paint, which provides less control when you are trying to blend, but certainly makes it much more lightweight. Ingredients on this one include tea leaf extract, lavender, and citric acid, but again that is only a select few. It does deliver a beautifully even and well toned matte finish. No worries about looking cakey here. That being said, the coverage is not as full and comes out a bit on the sheer side. Here is my whole face with Revlon on my right and Burberry on my left~

IN CONCLUSION ~ The Burberry was nice and I certainly felt like a boujee bitch when I was putting it on, but visually it was only slightly better then the Revlon. I think if you can find the right shade of Burberry and you don't NEED super full coverage then it's completely worth the extra splurge. You definitely don't absolutely need it though, Revlon is a perfectly respectable and nice looking option. If you are like me and struggle with an illness I would go with Burberry since it was more breathable and I often struggle with sweating or other skin irritations.
